Day 75: Baguette and meat pies

Today we have spent the day catching up with our work. This is why we can use today to make our own comparison between Accra (Ghana) and Lomé (Togo).

Pure water (the convenient water sachets) have been exported to Togo. There cassava is not that much used, even though they also eat fufu, their basic food is corn. They do not believe in trotros and they prefer to take motorbikes as public transport. Colonialism as you may know is present in both countries, this is why people in Ghana will be munching meat pies and Togolese people will be eating nice and warm baguettes.

A part from that the Togolese and the Ghanaians from the Volta region are Ewes, this means they share the same culture and language. If you are not familiar with speaking ewe, you better know English and French to communicate on both sides. A part from these similarities and differences, we also noticed that in Accra people are much more religious and puritan. Lomé was full of terraces and bars to sit for a drink and chat, as well as less religious advertising all around.

Have you ever been to Togo or Ghana? Let us know your experience.
