Hi H2CWorld-dreamers!

Today we are back in Teiman, we will be preparing our first trial in Mensabaa until Thursday.

This is why we would like to entertain you by explaining you about delicious Ghanaian food!

Until now, we have eaten rice, fufu, bamku and kenkey as main dishes!

You can eat white or fried rice. Normally plain rice is eaten with different stews and chili sauces. Also accompanied with beans, boiled eggs, fish and meet or even… (WARNING for Italian people: do not continue reading!) Spaghetti in it! Rice is usually eaten with a spoon.

Fufu is made of cassava (manioc) and plantain. After pounding for a long time with a huge wooden stick, it becomes the smoothest ball you can imagine. This is why it is one of the most appreciated foods in Ghana. Fufu is eaten with soups like light, groundnut or palmnut soups. The most tricky part comes when you eat it as you will have to use your right hand (take some fufu and some soup!) and then you need to swallow it without chewing it. Does it sound strange? Well it is actually delicious.

Banku is made of corn dough and it is also pounded into a nice big smooth ball. Normally banku is eaten with okro (a vegetable that Singaporeans may recognize as okra or ladies fingers!). The okro is made in a way that it becomes a sticky paste, so it is also quite tricky to eat and maintain your elegance without chewing.

Kenkey is made also with corn dough, wrapped in corn leafs and usually eaten with fish. It has its own particular taste but once in a while is quite enjoyable!
